Quick setup guide • Secure your crypto

Overview

This short presentation walks you through the essentials for setting up your Trezor hardware wallet, installing Trezor Suite, creating a secure wallet backup, and best practices to keep your funds safe. Follow each step carefully — hardware wallets are the strongest defense against online attacks.

What you'll need

Step-by-step setup

1. Verify packaging & connect

Inspect the box and holographic seal for tampering. Connect your Trezor via USB or use the recommended cable/adapter.

2. Install Trezor Suite

Open Trezor Suite (desktop or web) — the Suite guides you through firmware installation and setup. Only install firmware presented by the official Suite.

3. Initialize & create a wallet backup

Create a new wallet on-device. Choose a strong PIN and write down your wallet backup (previously called recovery seed) on the provided card. Store it offline, never digitally.

4. Update firmware & confirm

Install the latest firmware when prompted by the Suite. Confirm device-generated words and on-device actions — Trezor displays critical prompts on the hardware screen.

5. Add coins & verify support

Check the supported coins list before transferring funds. Use Trezor Suite or officially recommended third-party wallets for coins requiring special integrations.

Best practices & security

Never share your backup words with anyone. Use a passphrase if you need an additional secret layer (advanced users). Always verify device prompts on the physical device screen — attackers cannot tamper with on-device confirmations.

Troubleshooting

If something feels wrong (tampered packaging, unexpected prompts, or missing firmware prompts), stop and contact official support. Do not enter your backup words anywhere except directly on your device when creating or restoring a wallet.
